Romance of the Western Chamber is one of the best-known and most widely-admired plays of ancient China. It was composed from 1299 to 1308 by a famous dramatist, Wang Shifu in the Yuan Dynasty about seven hundred years ago. In this play, Wang Shifu expresnd Li, in other words, "making use of writing about separation and reunion to elaborate people's feelings at the rise and fall of the empire."
