A well off woman decides she'd like to find love in the American west so she leaves her home in Canada and travels to a cowboy farmer in California, after briefly corresponding with him about becoming his mail order bride. He's very quiet and she wonders if he'll ever open up to her, as well as ask her to get married. Something happens as she learns about farm life.
