This book explores the global distribution of grasslands, and the role that temperature, precipitation, soil type, and fire play in this biome. The different grasslands found in North America are described, including California grasslands, intermountain grasslands, shortgrass prairie, mixed prairie, and tallgrass prairie. Many plants and animals found in this biome are described through on-location footage. Other terminology includes: savanna, grass, prairie, nutrients, and bison.
