This rags-to-riches story of course never happened, but it could have. Another short story by this author that is set in upstate New York, it casts a glimpse at two very different lives. One of a have-not, the other of a man who made it, or so he thinks. Tables can turn although they rarely do, but if they would, this outcome might just be possible, perhaps, if it could beat the odds. Upstate life can be odd, but, that's life.
