Dubliners: Dubliners is a collection of fifteen short stories by James Joyce, first published in 1914.They form a naturalistic depiction of middle class life in and around Dublin. It is the most famous western works in the 20th century. The collection as a whole like an Impressionist painting with concise strokes and delicate arrangement , displaying a desolate state of the world, distant, cold, but exquisite. These fifteen short stories represent the middle and lower class life in the early twentieth century using realism and ironic techniques with paralysis and death throughout the book.(都柏林人:《都柏林人》是詹姆斯•乔伊斯久负盛名的短篇小说集,称得上20世纪整个西方最著名的短篇小说集了。
