In this environmental-themed story, Charlie the detective notices there are a lot of smelly dark stains on the beach so he starts searching for its source. Along the way, Charlie gets Blanchette the cow, Gertrude the lady in the bathing suit, Gideon the crow and Bastien the dalmatian to join him. The spots lead them from the beach to the open water, where they locate the culprit. They immediately hatch a plan to teach the culprit a lesson.
