Kailah has never liked hospitals: something about the smell. the lingering scent of death that permeates the very air. Doubly present to her vampire senses. As a child, human hospitals were houses of pain and suffering, today is no exception.

On the roof of the hospital waits a man bristling with military grade weaponry and several silver crucifixes. Though Kailah neutralises the threat with little trouble, to see an Assassin after so long sends chills through her body.

After barely escaping their clutches back in Glasgow, Kailah has learned to be cautious of the men and women trained to exterminate her kind with vicious efficiency. But how did they know she would be coming? And why are they here?

As Kailah enters the hospital, she is forced to admit that Diavian's visit has stirred up more trouble than she first thought. That her life, and those of many others, has been irreparably changed.
