As a passionate writer and an adventurous sailor, Jack London writes about the great questions of life and death, the sparkles of human integrity and ingenuity, and he weaves these ideas into those interesting stories based on his own experiences at sea. In Yeddo Bay describes how a young penniless sailor copes wittily and calmly with the Yokohama wharfmen, who out of admiration for his "pluck and independence", finally give him "the freedom of the harbor". In To Repel Boarders, we see two heroes, Paul and Bob, running down Lower San Francisco Bay to Bay Farm Island in ship "Mist", rise up with bravery and determination to challenge those boarding Italian fishermen. Tense and exciting, both pay a tribute to the courageous yet tenacious sailors. Jack London does not flood all sea stories with adventure and hardships, he also writes romance and fun. The Handsome Cabin Boy depicts a funny petite romance in which the protagonist mistakes a handsome boy in disguise for a charming damsel. This collection where adventure hobnobs with relaxation will surely cater to different tastes.
