This is Volume III of Jack London's Collective Short Stories, including Two Gold Bricks and Moon-Face. Most people love social events. However, they are easy to be cheated at a soiree which consumes their energy and time and also of course—money. Two Gold Bricks tells a story of how Damon and Ollie cheat people of their money by taking advantage of their social obsessions. Moon-Face is told by a psychopathic narrator, who hates a man with a moon-face, named John Claverhouse. John Claverhouse makes him feel extremely uncomfortable, so he tries every means to get Claverhouse in trouble, but only to find that the moon-face is always smiling. Later, he presents as a gift a well-trained dog named Bellona to Claverhouse. An accident happened when the dog carried back the explosive which was supposed to be used in the fishing pod. Claverhouse was killed, and the psychopathic narrator is very proud of his "unexpected" murder.
