Jackie is a sweet little woman that was attacked at sixteen and can't get past the trauma. She loves Joe who is two years older than she is, her best friends cousin, and doesn't seem to know she exists. She decides to tell him how she feels in a song. Joe has loved her since she was very young but is too shy to approach her. He was imprisoned in an enemy war camp for more than six months. When he gets out he goes to work at his cousin's dance club in a small town in the boot heel of Missouri. He watches Jackie nearly every night, singing and dancing at the club.
He wants to bring his Marine buddies to town and help them find peace. Jackie offers to help him find them and bring them to their friendly little town.
Can their joint efforts bring them together to help others with issues like theirs or are they destined to remain only friends? Can these two finally be together or will their traumatic experiences keep the apart?
