Cori, an Oregon high school history teacher, gave up her dreams for her husband, and now that he's gone, it's too late for her to make them happen. Halfway across the country, Ken put his dreams on hold for his wife, but he still plans to make his dreams come true, as soon as he tidies up a few loose ends. The only problem is, that there's no end to loose ends.

Cori and Ken are both adults who have loved and lost, and who face their problems with humor and realism. A crisis at Christmastime has Ken questioning his life, and after he goes back home to Kansas, it's Cori's turn for questioning.
