Aya meets her new friends, Meeka, Nina, Sokron and Kiki, at Jonsy's new tree house to get their new Monkey Club off the ground and plan an even more elaborate Monkey Day than the last one. But when Aya returns home her angry mother grounds her—for no reason at all—and Aya is left to contemplate how her parents came to be just so unhappy, sharing her thoughts with her audio diary. She dramatizes for her little brother the one happy family moment she remembers, then sneaks away for a moment—smuggling out her diary—in order to communicate to the girls her predicament.
