After ten years of war, Ulysses, king of Ithaca, has at long last defeated the Trojans and sacked Troy. Now he can set out for home, back to his wife Penelope and his son Telemachus, whom he saw last as a puling infant. But the way back is fraught with frightful perils. Each time his ship draws nigh to Ithacan waters, mysterious forces send it and all aboard pitching and rolling back out to sea, and Ulysses must struggle through that chain of fabulous adventures that have kept generation after generation spellbound for two and a half thousand years.
