In October of 2010, I had great energy and enthusiasm for raising money for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. My husband's engineering firm decided to participate as a team, so I joined with them and personally raised over one thousand dollars, which the company matched in contribution. I am not one who normally cares for fundraising, so at the time it seemed a little odd to me that I was pursuing donations so strongly. I remember telling my mother "I hope I won't need any of these funds that I have raised." I had heard stories of women who previously walked in support of the cause not yet knowing that cancer was already growing inside them. On the day of the walk, there was a river of people stretching out across the park as far as the eye could see. In a way, though I didn't know it at the time, they were all there to support me in my future journey, along with others who would be diagnosed with breast cancer. Six weeks after that walk, my life would be changed forever. I was diagnosed with breast cancer and this is my journal, My Breast Cancer Journey.
