Ethyl Friddle didn't plan to be a cat collector. It came about one day when Ethyl saw a certain cat being batted with a broom. Of course she knew right off that was a cat that needed saving. She was forced her to tell a lie. One lie led to another—as is often the case. Before Ethyl knew it, she had multiple problems: First, she had a big cat problem. She also found that she had become an 'item' at school—with Fred Williams—which was completely against her parents' rules. There was trouble at home, of course, but Ethyl's biggest problem was finding a way to keep everything from spinning completely out of control. Ethyl has a big heart and a sense of justice. It's a heart big enough to SAVE THE CATS—that's what she calls her mission.

Ethyl the Cat Collector is a short story for girls AND boys. One that focuses on on making good choices, building strength of character, and finding happiness along the way from childhood to adulthood.
