This free short story is a prelude to the novel "The Prometheus Cycle: The Star, the Sword, and the Mirror" and details the origins of a character from the novel. This story takes place a few years before the events of the novel, and is the only first person narration of any of the short stories, which centers on a slave's life in the Realm.
