Introduction: This book is a reportage which introduces the history and current situation of mangroves, the so-called "ocean guard", as well as the efforts by Chinese administrations to protect them. It also tells the transformation of Beihai inhabitants' idea about mangroves with vivid stories: from vandalization to self-conscious protection.
