19.Chinese calligraphy is the art of writing Chinese characters with unique tools — the brush, inkstick, inkslab and paper. As one of the oldest writing systems widely used today, the origin of Chinese characters can be traced back to about 1300 BC. Besides its practicality, Chinese calligraphy constitutes a unique part in the world of art, different from all other art traditions. Included in this book are 137 pieces of work by 126 calligraphers in different styles. From them we can not only keep abreast of current trends in calligraphic creation, but also find impacts of Western modern art on Chinese calligraphers.
