A Mere Interlude is a short story written by Thomas Hardy. It tells the story of Baptista's marriage which involves both her former boyfriend and a rich man who proposed to her. She finally tells David Heddegan, her rich husband, that she once had a secret marriage and gets a confession from him, too.
