When J's car broke down in the village of Greenwood his initial frustrations were quickly eradicated when he entered the Plough pub and fell immediately fell in love with the landlady Ruth. It seemed his classic car would not be repaired quickly and he and Ruth began a relationship over beer and fine dining. However he never quite explained what he was doing in the village and Ruth ad no reason to disbelieve his story of being a location manager lost in the English countryside. Then J's explanations grew more exciting as he said he was producing a 'fly on the wall' documentary of a typical English village. The residents believed him as well but the real story was not what they had understood to be reason for a TV company to be in Greenwood. The relationship between Ruth and J soon cracked but could J repair it by finally admitting the truth.
