Carrie Bendix and her sister inherit their uncle's ranch in the middle of California gold country. They revisit the ranch where they had enjoyed many wonderful summers as children, but decide to put the ranch up for sale, returning to the city. When Carrie finds her life has turned upside down in her absence, she puts herself in harm's way and childhood friend, Russ Roberts, comes to her aid.
