Nayagam Oru Nangai is a beautifully written romantic tale of love between the hero (Nayagan) and his maiden (Nangai). In fact, the writer in a unique manner, combines contemporary characters and events with apt references from Tamil literature, such as Inbathuppal (Thirukkural), Kalingatthu Bharani, etc. While the hero and his maiden are retained as the focal point of the story, there are several other characters who drive the narrative forward. In particular, Nangai's love affair with a longtime adversary of the hero, adds an interesting slant to the central theme. The hero captivates the reader's hearts by his great love for his maiden, and by being a good son, a great friend, and a wonderful person. His maiden does not lag behind either, as she constantly exemplifies pragmatism, intelligence and devotion.
