This is the autobiography of Michael Sharpe AO.

In 1999, The University of Sydney conferred upon Michael Sharpe the honorary degree of Doctor of Science in Economics. The citation included the following:

Michael has made an important contribution to the development of the theory and practice of accounting and auditing. As Chairman of Coopers & Lybrand International's Auditing Committee from 1983-1986 (the only Australian to hold this position), he was instrumental in the development of auditing methodology which forms the basis for the auditing curriculum in Australian and overseas universities. More recently, as Chairman of the International Accounting Standards Committee from 1995 to 1998, he has had a profound impact on financial reporting in many countries. The fruits of his IASC work—comparable, high quality and transparent accounting standards—are vital to the development of a global economy.

Michael Sharpe has also made an important contribution to accounting education as President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
