本作品为散文随笔类文集，共收集55篇文章。作品的分类不是按照写作时间的前后顺序，而是按照主题被分为五个分辑。作品第一辑的着墨重点在于探索希伯来、希腊以及中国诸古典传统在基督教语境当中该如何被继承或被扬弃。作品第二辑的重点在于描述在以红色信仰为主题曲的中国叙事里面，基督徒该怎样理解自己的身份。作品第三辑试图在现代性语境下来谈论个体对于生存各方面的反思。作品第四辑的立足点是全球化语境，作为地球村人是怎么看待在全球化处境当中的存在经验。作品最后一辑比较特别，是尝试以散文化的形式来再思西方基督教传统当中的教义主题，以带给读者更灵动的思考空间。（Belonging to a prose collection, this book includes 55 articles in total. This book is divided into five parts and the works are not classified by the writing sequence, but by the theme. The Part I focuses on how the classical traditions of Hebrew, Greek and China shall be inherited or discarded in the Christian context. The Part II focuses on how the Christians shall understand their own identity in the Chinese narrative with red faith taken as the theme song. The Part III focuses on the discussion on the reflection of the individuals in the various aspects of survival under the modernity context. Based on the globalization context, the Part IV focuses on how the global village people think about the existence experience in the globalization situation. The Part V, namely the last part, tries to re-think the doctrine theme in the western Christian tradition in the form of prose so as to bring about a smarter thinking space to the readers.）
