This week’s show is focused on problems created by obsessing with weight. Our first guest is Francie Berg, founder of the Healthy Weight Network and author of Women Afraid to Eat. Francie is on a mission to educate the world that we can be healthy at any size. She says we should stop dieting because it doesn’t work and because it leads to bad feelings about self. Instead, focus on being healthy. Francie gives four easy and practical guidelines for living a healthy lifestyle. Don’t wait for the perfect weight for your life to start! She asks us to celebrate size diversity and to start living life to the fullest now. Our second guest is Craig Pepin-Donat, author of The Big Fat Health & Fitness Lie and creator of The People’s Guide to Health, Happiness & Longevity. Craig talks about the misleading health and fitness claims that we hear on TV and explains why there is no magic pill, bullet or piece of equipment that will do the miracle of taking off the weight for you. Instead you need to eat smart (which includes getting the toxins out of your diet), commit to activity, and connect with people and have fun! Host Karen Bentley shares the latest and greatest news from the Tufts University Health and Nutrition Letter with eight great ways to eat healthy but cheap. She also starts a series of spiritual solutions on “loving yourself at any size.” This week’s technique is about how to use the simple practice of gratitude as a technique for experiencing yourself as a loving being.
