The focus of this week’s show is how sugar makes you fat and sick. Our two guests, Nancy Appleton PhD and Dr Peter Gott, are both nationally renowned sugar-free experts. Dr Nancy originally wrote Lick the Sugar Habit in 1985. Since then it’s been revised four times, and it continues to be a top selling book on amazon.com. She explains how sugar consumption is an addiction and how it leads to disease through the body chemistry principle. This is a 4-step biological process that begins with allergic reaction to sugar, which progressive to an adaptive reaction, which progresses to an addictive reaction, and which ultimately leads to physical degeneration. Dr Nancy talks about how many food allergies ascribed to milk, corn, wheat and/or chocolate may actually be sugar allergies, since all these foods are generally consumed with sugar as a dominant co-ingredient. Our second guest, Dr Peter Gott, is a syndicated medical columnist and the author of his NY Times bestselling book, Dr Gott’s No Flour, No Sugar Diet and the companion cookbook, which has just been published. Learn how to lose weight by getting these two unhealthy substances out of your diet. Dr Gott also talks about the importance of behavior control and portion control in successful weight loss. And finally host, Karen Bentley, discusses the spiritual solution of inner peace as a powerful tool for undoing the addiction to sugar and/or compulsive eating.
