"Gulliver's Travels" by Irish writer and clergyman Jonathan Swift was first published in the year 1726.The original title of the book was 'Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World, in Four Parts. By Lemuel Gulliver, First a Surgeon, and then a Captain of Several Ships.'"Gulliver's Travels" is both a satire on human nature and a parody of the 'travellers' tales.'The book is considered as Swift's best known full length work. It is regarded as a classic of English literature.It is said to have gained quick popularity right after its publication. In a letter to Jonathan Swift, John Gay wrote, "It is universally read, from the cabinet council to the nursery."The book has never been out of print from the time of its first publication.When it was first published, "Gulliver's Travels" was declared a controversial book. It took Swift to have the entire original text published.
