Set against the momentous events of the early twentieth century, Maggie's Choice is both a romance and a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Sister Maggie, an army nurse, encounters John Hardie, a Canadian soldier, after the second battle of Ypres in 1915. They gradually fall in love, and as the war deepens, Maggie unexpectedly discovers a clandestine operation that pits John against both German and Allied revolutionaries.
