Simona Carletti is visiting the States, and her terminally ill aunt, when tragedy strikes: Hurricane Katrina makes landfall, laying waste to the American east coast. Hospital staff are under extreme stress, unable to deal with the huge influx of people.
Fortunately, Simona is a registered nurse. Deeply caring, she assists the hospital as best she can, a task which ultimately sees her caring for an injured Italian businessman, Giacomo.
Before long, romantic sparks begin to fly. But Simona cannot let herself be drawn in. Giacomo is one of the Conti brothers, a family of billionaires who run Italy's highest-grossing business fund. The worlds they each come from are too different. And besides: there are other things pressing on Simona's mind. Her aunt is not long for this world … and though Simona is not yet aware of it, her own health balances on a knife edge.
