Set mostly in Toronto and Latin America, is a near-future tale with a fast-paced, often turbulent storyline set in a baseball backdrop. Bad Blood centres on the parallel lives of two baseball players, Errol Boghan and Santi del Oriente, in a future where major league baseball is being radically reorganized. Santi is a superstar, Errol more of a journeyman, and the conflict between them begins with that difference: a difference of privilege, of Santi's apparently charmed life of luxury and ease against Errol's star-crossed life of blood sweat and tears. They find themselves playing for the same team, the Toronto Blue Jays, and the tension quickly builds. However, Santi has a secret—he has made his way into the big leagues only after honing his skills in the political outcast country of Venezuela under the Machiavellian, sometimes murderous, mentorship of Felix Martinez. The hostility between Santi and Errol eventually embroils Errol's mother and his fiancé, and the final shattering revelation forever changes the course of all their lives.
