The preface notes the problem of a 9 month gestation for human reproduction. It suggests the problem of the extended birth may be due to malnutrition. The first chapter discusses the impediments to human nutrition, inadequate intake and malabsorption. It supposes a split between bulk development and the internal organs development of the fetus, that they may not be in synchronization. The second chapter brings up Carl Sagan's suggestion that the Eden story is an allegory for human brain development and its adverse effect on childbearing. I counter that ignorance is a more likely problem rather than intelligence. Chapter three discusses modern considerations in gestation such as test tube babies. Certain problems against this suggestion of fetal development follow. Chapter four suggests that test tube spouses might be a better solution to human misery, once again alluding back to biblical considerations.
