1921年3月至7月，芥川龙之介到中国进行采访，先后游历了上海、苏杭、北京、天津、武汉、大同等地。回到日本后，他将在中国的所见所闻写成游记，在《每日新闻》连载。本书是这些游记的结集。作者在书中描绘了他所看到的风景名胜和中国风貌，夹杂着自己的看法与见解。在华期间，他还拜访了章太炎、辜鸿铭、郑孝胥等人，本书对此均有记录。 From March to July in 1921, Akutagawa Ryunosuke conducted interviews in China and he travelled in Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Beijing, Tianjin, Wuhan and Datong, etc. As he returned to Japan, he wrote travel notes about what he saw and heard in the trip, which were serialized in Daily News. This book is a collection of those travel notes. In the book, the author writes scenic spots and Chinese landscapes that he saw mixed with his own views and opinions. During his stay in China, Akutagawa Ryunosuke also visited Zhang Taiyan, Gu Hongming and Zheng Xiaoxu, etc. and such interviews are recorded in the book as well.
