In this sequel to the popular "HVZA", more than a year has passed since the outbreak of the infection, and Dr. Rebecca "Becks" Truesdale has been living comfortably and working in an Army lab at West Point. She volunteers for a mission to help develop new methods to fight the zombie parasites, but an accident leaves her stranded, injured, and alone in the northern New Jersey suburbs—and area filled with herds of zombies and even more dangerous human predators. Struggling to survive the long, cold winter, Becks must find food and shelter, make weapons, and find ways to get through miles of zombie-infested streets to get back to a safe zone.
