This is the heroic and sometimes tragic story of the Irish immigrant families, the Costellos, Duracks and Tullys, who came to Australia in the 1840s and 1850s.
It was particularly the mothers who suffered heart-rending tragedies, as the family dynasty founded the great cattle stations in the South West corner of Queensland.
Now in the 1990s, the fifth generation of Tullys still live on 'Ray' station. Author Fleur Lehane (nee Tully) uses family archives and historic photos to present a woman's viewpoint on South-West Queensland's greatest pioneers.
