Here lies the profiles of the main characters the SeriesVolumes 1 through 8:Carison Destine—Paladin of the Realm and the main character of our story. Tall, blonde, ruggedly good looking. He is the fourteenth Paladin to hold the office for the Three Kingdoms (because there's only ever one at a time). As Paladin, he gets paid by the Three Kings to take care of problems across the Realm. Most of the time that means slaying dragons. He's very good at what he does, and enjoys doing it. He despises dragons. In his words, they are "intelligent animals with no conscience or regard for life other than their own." He never felt bad about killing a dragon. But it never felt like a noble deed, either. It was just something that had to be done.Raven—Born Raven Hearthstone Celenti, although she doesn't like it when anyone uses her full name. It reminds her too much of her youth, and the things she overcame to become the woman she is today. A woman of strength and beauty, with eyes the color of amethyst and hair the color of fire. She is the most powerful sorceress in her times, perhaps even more so than the sorceress Eschalene Falora in the last century. That last is a matter of some debate. Just not in Raven's mind.Orson Malidra—Captain of the Guard in the town of Bastion. Tall and strong, he keeps his head shaved but favors a bushy white mustache. He is skilled in the use of several weapons but has always favored a heavy broadsword.Janetha Sapphire—A dark-skinned beauty from Carison's younger days. She is tall for a woman, and her lithe body is the envy of women and the stuff of men's dreams. Her eyes are a unique mixture of brown with an inner ring of green. Carison says he reminds him of emeralds freshly dug up from the earth.Deacon Winters—A Special Servitor to the house of King Nolan and high-ranking member of the Royal Guard. He also hires himself out as needed to any of the Three Kings of the Realm. He knew Carison Destine, once upon a time. They were friends and rivals and both of them had much the same reputation with those who knew them. Tough, honest men who cared more about other people than themselves. He is sent by the Three Kings to check up on their Paladin when Carison sends messages warning of a coming attack from the dragons in the Vale of Stone. An attack that will be led by the Butcher Lemore.Theron—Mayor of the city of Bastion and the appointed Governor of the territory that used to be the Fourth Kingdom. He was appointed to this position by the Three Kings after they deposed Lemore. Theron was the natural choice to take the position. After all, Lemore is his uncle.
