Renewed rumors of a lost treasure have brought more tourists than usual to the historic Texas Hill Country town of Paxon Chute and overworked park ranger Edgar Rerd can't keep them all in check. With a new baby and his wife's income on hold, their debt rises as Edgar struggles to keep his head above water. Things look brighter when childhood friend and slick businessman Marlon Ezell returns home with a chrome-plated development that could pay off big for Edgar, but at what expense to Paxon Chute and its quirky residents?
