When Charismatic young priest, William Clifford, is brought before the Provincial Court of The Church in Wales accused of impropriety and of ' bringing the church into disrepute' the sleepy Welsh seaside village of Rhagriff Bay becomes the focus of a media feeding frenzy. One journalist, charged by his editor with finding 'an original slant', is determined to ask questions about the real truth behind the scandal: is the priest really guilty as charged? Or is he, as he and his coterie of loyal supporters allege :merely the innocent victim of a conspiracy? As the trial progresses, and with the help of two villagers, and a private journal. He begins to uncover a web of deceit, half-truths and rumour that entangles all concerned, and from which no one emerges unscathed. As the facts emerge the real story proves to be a sad catalogue of 'clerical errors and secular lies' that will eventually change the lives of everyone concerned, wreck relationships and split the community into opposing factions forever.
