This Special Edition of the Journal of Corporate Real Estate contains papers from the European Real Estate Society Conference in Vienna in 2013, which had a corporate real estate focus.

The challenge for an organisation is to make the Corporate Real Estate (CRE) work for it and add value to what is being done rather than acting as a brake to the development of the organisation and its aims. Therefore having clarity on how the space that an organisation occupies impacts on it is essential. Part of that consideration is the manner in which the CRE and the business strategy are aligned. The four papers in the ERES Special Edition consider how CRE can be aligned to the business or organisation and its needs.

The papers consider the views of Corporate Real Estate Managers (CREM's) across countries on how alignment is developed; look at best fit model for alignment; consider how sustainability has added value for CRE departments; and look at the consequences of decision-making by CREM's.
