Imagine being seven months pregnant and your husband just lost his job, and with it his insurance. This was poet and author Alexis Donkin's situation in July 2013. In an effort to understand and come to terms with the stress of her situation and the normal discomforts and pressures of her pregnancy, Alexis wrote this collection of poems. While referencing a very specific time in life for her, they speak to the difficulties of the average person, struggling through financial concerns, heartless employers, and the expectations so many have for pregnant women as well as the hopes and fears a mother has for her children.
