There is something slightly comic and even pathetic about the stereotypical man who is having a midlife crisis. We can all recall listening with amusement to the tale of a 50 year-old man who has just bought himself a very fast sports car. 'Oh, he's going through a midlife crisis,' we laugh. He starts to wear clothes more suited to a twenty year-old. He restyles his hair to cover the bald patch. He colors it to hide the gray hairs. He goes to the gym to 'keep fit'. And sometimes he starts an affair with someone young enough to be his daughter. Yes, it's very sad, but quite funny really.
