This novel raises social issue of divorce and how the personality of children is churned as a consequence of the divorce of parents It often happens that divorced parents unconsciouslly use their children as a weapon against each other Bunty is a nine year old boy caught between the divorce of his parents How he sees his world crumbling around him without having much idea of why is it happening is shown in the novel The point of view of a child is very carefully portrayed by the writer At the end it is nobody's fault but that of the circumstances that make Bunty a loved but unacceptable child
