Oz is sixteen years old, and his hard-nosed dad isn't very supportive about his high-flying musical ambitions. When he runs away from home to pursue his dream, he finds himself in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. Now, Oz has to fight through hordes of ravening zombies and find a way back home. This is a short story of approximately 10,000 words. This is the beginning of a series currently expected to be 6 to 7 installments.Extract:He stood at the ready, hand hovering over the lever that opened the bus doors. Oz went through Step 1 again, forcing himself to slow his breathing. OK, so now that he was a zombie apocalypse expert, what did he know about fighting zombies?Well.A bus seemed like a pretty effective weapon against most of them. Of course, something as big and blunt as twenty tons of steel was great for getting a bunch of them out of the way, but it didn't always have the precision to finish them off. Oz was fairly certain that the upper half of the monster that had managed to hang on to the bus' hood earlier was still crawling around in a corn field somewhere back there. If he was perfectly honest with himself, the only thing that had saved him then was the fact that he wasn't just driving over them, but driving away from them as well.In movies, zombies stopped trying to eat the heroes when they destroyed the zombies' brains. His other hand tightened around the crowbar. All he needed to do was swing from the hip. Like with baseball.Except that these baseballs were bigger. And had teeth. And, according to zombie lore, felt no pain or fatigue.So... yeah. This was totally like baseball. Totally.
