After receiving the devastating news from her brother that their parents were killed in a plane crash, Angel Hart Dunbar flies from her home in Georgia, to the family ranch where she grew up in Colorado. During a ceremony to cast their parents¹ ashes from a mountaintop, she is pushed her over the cliff and left for dead. Mitch Walker, prominent Denver attorney, is on backpacking trip in the mountains when he finds Angel and nurses her back to health. The people who tried to kill her return on horseback to make certain Angel, and the good Samaritan who saved her life, are both dead. Mitch and Angel flee from the cave even though she is barely able to walk. An early winter snowstorm hits the high elevations and Mitch and Angel take refuge in a cabin owned by the Park Service. Six months later, Angel sells her Georgia home and business and moves back to Colorado permanently to help Seth run the huge family ranch. Also, Seth¹s trial for murdering their parents is approaching. Jared is assumed to have died in the blizzard. However, when she arrives at the ranch, she learns that Seth has just been murdered. Seth¹s lawyer, Percy Cahill, calls Mitch with the news of a string of murders, and thinks that Jared is the killer and that his mind has snapped. If Jared Mitchell is alive and on a murdering rampage, Mitch Walker knows he is the only man who can stop him.
