The Athenaeum was founded in 1824 as a meeting place for those who enjoy the life of the mind. Over the years its members have included scientists, clergy, lawyers, artists, writers, civil servants, doctors and academi. In its history 52 members have won the Nobel Prize. Frequently serious discussions take place in the Drawing Room, the Coffee Room, and the Morning Room. But it is also a place of jollity. This collection of sketches is designed to celebrate its members.
