Mystical phairyphants have existed since the days of wooly mammoths and mastodons. Phairydust allows them to fly on powerful, gossamer wings while they use their trunks to sniff the air for opportunities to make the world a better place for elephants. This is the story of Elly, one such phairyphant. It is a peaceful day in the African savanna as she settles down next to a stream to wash off old phairy dust and possibly take a nap in the shade of some trees.Pachy is a young elephant separated from his herd by vicious lions. He escapes them by hiding in the trees, but doesn't know his way back to his mother. Perhaps a phairyphant would be just the thing to help him.Krek, a heron with a French accent, has misplaced his memory and needs help finding it. The problem is that he doesn't remember exactly where he misplaced it.Together, they set out to search for Krek's memory and Pachy's herd. The savanna is a perilous place though. Will they find danger instead? Who is Mr. Giraffe? Does Elly have enough phairydust to save the day?The sixth entry in the Stories for Demented Children Series is a delightful romp through the African savanna with odd, yet likeable characters.
