A family is an organism. When Bett Koster, mother and grandmother, is diagnosed with breast cancer, she finds she must adapt some and discard other of the rules she has used to live her life for more than sixty years. As Bett makes the changes she needs to be able to fight for her life, her family is forced to change how they think and act toward Bett, each other, and, especially, themselves.
