It's a rainy night in Carmarthen and, while the intrepid Aneurin is on a stakeout in Water Street, a valued friend is kidnapped and a plan is put into motion by a new enemy. If that wasn't enough, the agents of CI and their friends in Myddfai are horrified to realise that an old enemy is also involved, a man so ruthless that he will stop at nothing to destroy Wales. While CI, the Welsh Bureau of Investigation and WARF use all their ingenuity to stop the plan from succeeding, Rhian Jenkins, heroine of the Welsh Resistance and priestess of the Goddess, uses her own methods and, in doing so, knowingly makes an irrevocable pact with the deity.
