Reader Review by Jill Lapin-ZellSometimes you read something that affects you very deeply at a time when it otherwise wouldn't. Sometimes you read something that tugs at your heart as if it were wrapped in chains pulled by an 18-wheeler. Dick Reynolds' "Averil, My Anchor" is such a novel. It is a compelling and touching story with relatable characters. A rich and absorbing tale which unfolds with well-crafted suspense, it takes the reader on an unforgettable ride.Haven't we all experienced regrets in our lives? Haven't we all wondered, "what if" about that love that got away? Averil, Mark, Joan, Jerry and Stephanie are no exceptions. But they learn that following up on a "what if" can prove to be a dangerous undertaking. What is legitimate love and what is off limits? Through the fates of his characters, the author demonstrates that simply following our hearts is not a sufficient compass for navigating the complicated web of our relationships, and often has terrible, long-lasting consequences. The boundaries of a marriage are tested, and in the testing lies the epiphany that leads to the salvation of a relationship.
