Meet the way you teach and the way your students learn!

Pearson's United States History provides all levels of learners with various pathways into the content to ensure they "get it". Not just by memorizing dates, facts, and names, but giving students different ways to "play around" with the content and see, hear, and experience the people, events, and key information from different perspectives.

Built around the Understanding by Design model, this program uses Essential Questions to stimulate conversation, emphasize source analysis and hands-on learning, and foster critical thinking. Teachers regularly grapple with issues of how to make content both relevant and timely for students. For their part, students struggle to make that same content meaningful within the context of their lives. The American Issues Connector strand in the text, journal, and vides helps students explore enduring issues throughout American history, with an emphasis on making connections to events in today's world.

We know that not all students are on-grade level readers and many need extra help developing and refining both reading and vocabulary skills. Our Reading and Note Taking Study Guides are consumable workbooks that students use with every day as they work their way through the program. The adapted versions provide summaries written 2 grade levels below the text and scaffolded support.

Even though there are no national social studies standards, a topic of content these days are the Common Core Standards. These are actually the Common Core Standards for Literacy in History/Social Studies, Grades 9–10, and they focus on reading and writing vs. content topics. United States History has embedded reading and writing support that differentiates us from the competition for all levels of learners.
