G. K. Chesteron possessed a remarkable gift: the ability to communicate vital truths in such a way as to convince not only intellectuals but also the Common Man. Indeed, at the very centre of Chesteron's view of the world was concern for the moral, spiritual, economic, and social welfare of the Common Man. The creed of Distributionism that he championed in and out of season provides an important alternative to the discredited creeds of Capitalism and Socialism. As a result, G. K. made many enemies amongst the powers-that-be, but he won admirers and friends from all over the world because he was prepared to sacrifice time, health, money, and reputation in the defense of ordinary men and the Common Good.
